Jo Waterhouse & Clare Bridge
Tell us about your book?
Wearable Vintage Fashion is a guide to collecting and wearing vintage fashion, with tips and ideas of how to recreate period looks for parties and events.
Why did you decide to write about this subject?
Clare's owned the vintage shop Second Hand Rose in Worcester for 6 years and we've been working together at the shop and organising vintage events etc... so it naturally came about to write a book together about our passion for vintage fashion, from the perspective of running/working at Second Hand Rose.
What do you love most about writing?
It's a form of creative expression even if you're working on 'non-fiction'. It's especially interesting writing and researching subjects that you love, there's always new facts to uncover!
Finish this sentence…I wish I’d written…?
Jo: The Harry Potter books! I'd be super rich and could afford to buy all the vintage goodies of my dreams!
Clare: Mrs Beeton's Cookery Book, I would be the best cook/ home maker/entertainer with all that knowledge!
You have the opportunity to meet any author past or present who would it be and why?
Jo: Nancy Mitford. I've just read the Mitford Girls biography and it makes for a fascinating read. Nancy's fiction books are full of humour and she was by all accounts a witty raconteur!
Clare: I have always loved the Milly-Molly-Mandy series by Joyce Lankester Brisley, she was sure to be a lovely lady having written such adorable tales of the little girl and her friends, I bet she'd tell a great bedtime story!
