BFI Southbank held a special evening in honour of the 30th anniversary of televisions most infamous satire show Spitting Image.

First broadcast on 26th February 1984, no politician or pop star was exempt from being turned into a latex puppet, including Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Regan, Lord Roy Hattersley and Lord David Steel.

Even members of the Royal Family, like The Queen and Prince Philip were turned into puppets.

During the evening Spitting Image impressionists, writers, some of the featured politicians and creators came together to remember the show. 

They disussed behind-the-scenes secrets of the performers, puppeteers, writers and directors.

The BFI previewed a screening of Arena: Whatever Happened To Spitting Image? a new BBC Four documentary directed by Anthony Wall.
Also featured were a panel of well known writers and performers who gave the show its satirical edge, they included Harry Enfield, Ian Hislop, Kate Robbins, Rob Grant, Richard Holloway and the voice of Margaret Thatcher Steve Nallon.
